01/23/24 Focus on Guinea

Guinea was not on the list of countries where Global Baptist Training Foundation had plans to extend our training program for national pastors and church leaders.  But, pastors from Guinea began to cross the border to attend classes in neighboring Liberia.   GBTF work in Liberia is extensive. We have had two large graduating classes, and we currently have nearly a hundred more in new classes.  We also have a group of nearly 20 national trainers in Liberia.

A group of GBTF-trained pastors, under the leadership of our GBTF coordinator Pastor James Togba and our GBTF Liberia Director Pastor Philip Wille, went into Guinea to plant new churches.  These Guinea churches are in areas where no gospel preaching church has existed in the memory of even the oldest members of the community.   And they are flourishing.  Many people are coming to faith, being baptized, and being discipled in their new faith.  

One of these churches, whose entire leadership team are being trained through GBTF (see picture below), is running nearly 100.  

Thanks to a GBTF partner, one of the Guinea church plants in Djecke has a new building almost completed. Our partner has provided the funding for materials, and the members are doing the actual construction!

Bruce had an opportunity last week to travel into Guinea, to meet some of the members who were working on their building, and to see the progress being made. The second video is a city councilor in Djecke who is now attending this new church plant. He is also helping on construction!!!

This is an exciting development.
