01/31/26 Congo, Mozambique, Zambia, and IT Training
As usual, there is so much happening in Global Baptist Training Foundation around Africa!
First, we have a number of new churches beginning all around Africa now. One of these new church plants is in Zambia!! Add all new church plants to your prayer list, and we will have updates in the future about many of these new churches!
Next, we had a great class in the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) this past week! After many years of Bruce teaching classes in DRC, the conditions became too dangerous per the US State Department. Now, we have 30 national trainers in the DRC! 30! Jackson Katebera is the DRC National Coordinator for GBTF. He has literally risked his life for the sake of training in a country constantly rocked by war and violence. Jackson writes:
“The presence of GBTF in this province (Ituri, Mahagi Territory) is the solution to God’s servants. This is because over 90% of pastors have had no Bible training due to lack of financial resources and Bible schools. We sincerely thank GBTF for everything! We have been asked to open another class in the capital of this province, about 300 km away from where we are!”
Ntare Rodgers (orange shirt), GBTF IT Director, and Brian Atusasire (blue shirt), New Assistant IT Director, are traveling all over Africa equipping GBTF trainers and church planters with smart phones and IT training on the use of the phone as well as the GBTF app and the GBTF Africa website that Ntare has developed. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars on this communication network, and we continue to invest in phones and training so that our GBTF network can communicate and share data and pictures
Finally, Mozambique is struggling to recover from deadly and devastating flooding in the southern part of the country. We have included pictures and videos here to help us all pray more effectively for all the churches and individuals affected. Many parts of the country are inaccessible because roads are totally destroyed! That has forced tens of thousands of people to relocate! We suffered the loss of one of our GBTF trainers in this flooding. He leaves behind a wife and three children. Our GBTF family in Africa is collecting an offering to help. We will let our donors know if and when more funds are needed for this family.
