02/18/26 Training in Refugee Camp in Malawi

Pastor Brasswell Nkhonjera, GBTF South Africa Director, recently held training classes in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi.  He writes:

“From 2nd-5th February I conducted a training at Dzaleka refugee camp. I taught Hermeneutics and Anthropology. These people live a very difficult life. They are in need of food. UNHCR is planning to cease giving food to these refugees. Despite these difficulties 30 people attended the training. Pray for this class and entire refugee camp that the Lord will meet their physical needs.”

Pastor Ntare Rodgers, GBTF Africa IT Director, and Brian Atusasire, Assistant IT Director, traveled into Kenya to deliver phones and train GBTF pastors and church planters in the use of the phone and the GBTF app.  We are enabling communication between our extensive GBTF network.  While this is an expensive proposition, the benefits are great: communication, encouragement, reporting, staying updated about classes all over Africa, and many other advantages. Ntare and Brian have been able to meet with groups of pastors, trainers, and church planters in several parts of Kenya.   Ntare writes:

“GBTF IT Training & Phone Distribution Update (Uganda–Kenya) – January 2026 (Part 3)*

After departing Nairobi for Western Kenya and proceeded to Kitale, where church planters were already gathered and waiting for us at Maili Saba Bible Baptist Church, hosted by Pastor Ronald Nyongesa, who faithfully coordinates GBTF classes in Western Kenya. They warmly welcomed us and prepared everything for the training. We successfully equipped these church planters with GBTF smartphones and trained them to:

Submit ministry reports, communicate with leadership, and manage digital ministry records
Their readiness and hunger to learn were very encouraging.

After lunch the same day, we traveled farther west past Makutano to Kacheliba, where we ministered at Kacheliba Bible Baptist Church. We found about 30 church planters already assembled and waiting for training. The welcome was warm and joyful. Because of the large number we split into two groups.

The session ran late into the day due to the high interest and many questions. The pastors were deeply grateful for GBTF and excited to begin using the tools immediately for ministry reporting and outreach.

Thank you all for praying for: Safe travel, good health and strength, faithful reporting by trained leaders, spiritual fruit in every church, expansion of GBTF training across East Africa.

We thank God for His protection, open doors, and the eagerness of pastors everywhere we go. It is clear that GBTF is growing steadily across borders, and the Lord is raising equipped leaders for His harvest.”
