03/17/24 Tanzania Trainer Training
Last week, Bruce traveled to Tanzania (along with two of our sons-in-law) to train Global Baptist Training Foundation national trainers. These are pastors who have completed our GBTF curriculum and now wish to train others through GBTF. We had 20 trainers from Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, and Ethiopia, Burundi, and Democratic Republic of Congo. The spirit of fellowship and excitement was everywhere as these GBTF Trainers gathered to learn, grow, and be encouraged and equipped.
These national trainers have periodic regional training in both the theological content of GBTF’s curriculum as well as the practical side of training others, traveling, budgeting, and a host of other things. We provide projectors, iPhones (when possible), GBTF shirts and table runners, and other equipment and supplies that help them be more effective in their training efforts.
One beautiful story from this week of training was Pastor Brasswell from Malawi. He is excited to be a trainer for GBTF and wanted to be in the Tanzania training. He has previously attended the Rwanda session of trainer training. In order to get to the Tanzania training, Brasswell sold his laptop computer. One of our donors had donated a laptop. Bruce took it to Tanzania not knowing who to give it to. When he found out about Brasswell’s sacrifice, he knew who God wanted to have the laptop. Pastor Brasswell was overwhelmed and thrilled at God’s faithfulness.
Our newly appointed African Director, Fidele Shinga, was able to be part of the training week in Tanzania. He has had a dream for years to learn Greek. Our son-in-law, Todd, had a masters degree in Bible languages. He brought books and supplies and spent some time getting Fidele started on his Greek alphabet and other beginning studies. We look forward to Fidele’s continued studies, to Todd’s continued teaching, and perhaps even a higher level of training available to other pastors and church leaders through GBTF.
Each region of East Africa has a GBTF Regional Director. Many of them met at this training session.
This organizational structure is allowing us to expand even more rapidly. We are truly seeing the intentional multiplication we have worked toward for the past twelve years. God is growing this ministry. With over 400 churches being planted this year alone in Africa, with thousands of people saved and baptized through those church plants, we are excited to watch the future unfold.
