05/02/26 GBTF and Women’s Training

In 2012, Grace taught the first group of women in Southeast Asia. The next year, she began teaching women in Africa as well.   As she learned to understand the special needs of these women in cultures where women are often undervalued, she created a curriculum to teach women how to study the Bible in several different ways. Most women in developing countries have no access to this type of training.  

Grace has spent more than a decade developing a curriculum that trains women in several kinds of Bible study methods using women in the Bible as the platform for study.  Not only do these women have access to the Bible (and usually no other study aids), but the women God chose to include in Scripture address issues that are unique to women (infertility, incest, rape, widowhood, barrenness, and so many more).   We have seen the Bible and culture come face to face, and we have seen the Bible win! 

We are thrilled that we now have three national women who are taking up the mantle of training other women to train other women using Grace’s curriculum.  

Alice Nyiramutima, wife of Fidele Shinga (GBTF African Director), recently taught a large group of women in Central African Republic.  Her husband, Fidele, translated for her for the first time!!  Fidele says not only was it a joy to serve as husband and wife, but that he learned from his wife as she taught.

Esther Atusasire, wife of Naboth Atusasire (GBTF East Africa Director), has also been teaching in East Africa and also recently in Liberia in West Africa! 

Our newest addition will be Lydia Togba, wife of James Togba (GBTF Field Representative and acting West Africa Director), who has also surrendered to train women.  Please pray for these national women’s directors.   While women are always welcome at our GBTF theological training classes, we have found that the women’s classes focusing on basic Bible study skills is a much-needed foundation for women who have little to no exposure to training.
