07/09/25 On Mission

As usual, there is a lot of activity!  Classes, trainer training, church plants,  building repairs, well building, and Bible distribution are all under way in many nations across Africa.   GBTF’s philosophy of training nationals allows them to be equipped to do all of the above AND to multiply their efforts in the lives of other church leaders.

Even as we write, more pastors and church leaders are being trained by our 112 national trainers.  This Eastern Rwanda group of 55 just wrapped up another class!  They will most likely graduate in the next 12-18 months.

Multiplication is exactly what is happening through Global Baptist Training Foundation.   This chart is a partial reporting of the results from churches started and/or pastored by GBTF-trained pastors.   The actual number of churches is nearly 1,600, but many are extremely isolated with little communication.   in the churches that have reported, over 18,000 people have come to faith in Christ in the most recent three month period!  We are still letting that sink in.

The baptism number looks lower than the salvation numbers.  There are a few reasons for this.  One, in countries like South Sudan, there is literally NO water to baptize in. They are struggling to get water to drink.   When the rainy season comes, they will be able to say, “See, here is water!”  And they will be baptized.  Two, many of these churches hold baptism classes to make sure people understand the step they are taking before baptizing the new believers.

We are actively working to get reporting from all of the GBTF-affiliated churches.  We have invested (thanks to generous GBTF donors) a lot of funding to put smart phones in the hands of every GBTF trainer, pastor, and leader.  Our African IT Director, Pastor Ntare Rodgers, is traveling and training these pastors and trainers on how to use the phones and the new GBTF app. This app was created by Ntare and will be invaluable to gathering data and following up with every single member of the GBTF team!

If you are giving to Global Baptist Training Foundation, you are part of this great work and amazing results we are seeing from God’s work around the world.  We can’t imagine anything better in which to invest our time, talent, and treasure!   www.globaltrain.org
