08/30/24 Great Things in the Congo

When we first started Global Baptist Training Foundation, we often shared the rationale that the day could come when we couldn’t get into some countries in the world. Training nationals in those countries would assure competent ministry and evangelism would continue and be passed on to the next generation.  That day has come in many parts of the world!  GBTF is depending on nationals within several nations where we, at one time, operated freely.   These countries include Myanmar, Haiti, and others.

One such country that is often on the US State Department list of dangerous places for Americans is the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).   After several years of Bruce traveling into the DRC (with some really interesting stories about bus rides!), the guerrilla activity in those areas where we had classes made it unsafe to travel there.

Our hearts were burdened for the DRC.  Our African Director for GBTF, Fidele Shinga, is a resident of Rwanda but a native of Congo. He, too, has a burden to train nationals with the DRC.  We are so thankful that we now have three trained GBTF trainers in the DRC. One of those trainers, Jackson Katebera (affectionately known to us as Congo Jackson), has just traveled to the capitol city of Kinshasa to begin training a group of national pastors and church leaders.  Out of a large group, 21 completed the course requirements.  This class will continue until we have a graduation (and maybe even more national trainers)!

Global Baptist Training Foundation finances classes like this all over the world. Do you want to have a part in the training of nationals to train nationals, to plant churches (465 new churches this year alone), and to win their nations for Christ (over 13,000 saved in the first half of 2024)?  Go to globaltrain.org and join the GBTF efforts around the world!!
