12/12/23 GBTF National Trainers in Uganda and Sudan

Our vision for training nationals to train nationals is in full force!  You see reports of Shinga Fidele, our East Africa Trainer, holding classes in many East African countries.   We also have very active trainers in Uganda.  

Pastor Naboth is holding a GBTF class in Western Uganda with 29 students.  This is how it works:  GBTF takes theological training to Pastor Naboth.  After some additional practical and theological training, Naboth takes  our GBTF materials and translates (if necessary) and duplicates them and trains pastors and church leaders who have been unable to come to other GBTF classes.

Naboth is also helping churches in villages. He has just raised money to purchase land for this village ministry. Great things are happening through Naboth’s ministry, and we are thrilled to have on our GBTF team.

Sudan

Another Ugandan GBTF student turned trainer is Pastor Gilbert Ochecka. Gilbert is regularly traveling into Sudan to train pastors as well as holding classes in Eastern Uganda.

Gilbert just completed a training session in Sudan with 11 Sudanese pastors who minister in the refugee camps in South Sudan.  These refugees have fled to this area to escape the war and violence in the north of the country.  The gospel is active through these pastors who are meeting the spiritual needs of the refugees. 

We are so thankful for Gilbert’s vision, burden, and tenacity. His trip to Sudan was during the rainy season.  He took a bus until the muddy and washed out roads made it impossible for the bus to continue.  Rather than turn back, Gilbert hired a motorcycle taxi that took him a bit further. But, finally, Gilbert was forced to put on mud boots and walk the last miles on foot!  That type of dedication is what is making this GBTF trainer so invaluable!  See the video below of Gilbert on his trek to Sudan!

Projectors

We are now gathering projectors, phones with good cameras, and even laptops to help these trainers be more effective. You can help by praying for these trainers and by giving to allow us to equip and provide for the needs of these nationals who are training nationals.
