10/04/24 Malawi Graduation

Congratulations to the 45 pastors in Malawi who completed their Global Baptist Training Foundation course of study and received diplomas yesterday.   This accomplishment takes on even greater significance when you understand the obstacles.  These pastors travel a great distance several times a year for modular courses.  They balance families, churches, and other occupations to serve the Lord in very poor, often isolated, areas.  Their dedication is humbling. To have the privilege of equipping these incredible servants of God and then experiencing a graduation day with them is beyond joyful!  

African Director, Fidele Shinga, not only founded this Malawi class, but he has also taught the majority of the classes.   Fidele is well loved and respected all over Africa.  

Dr. Bruce Snavely was able to complete these Malawi pastors’ GBTF training with week-long intensive Homiletics (sermon building) training.   His charge at graduation involved not only preaching the Word but also the responsibility of training others!   It is exciting that this is the only class Bruce has taught this group. Their entire training process has been nationals training nationals.  

These Malawi pastors have 10 brand new churches staring right now. 7 of these pastors are now GBTF regional trainers.  Our Malawi host is also GBTF South Africa Director, Brasswell Nkhonjera.  Here he is pictured with Naboth Atusasire, from Uganda, GBTF East Africa Director.  

One of the most emotional moments of this Malawi graduation was when a diploma was conferred post-humously.  After completing the program, one of our pastors/students went to be with the Lord. GBTF was able to help his widow with a generous love offering to help her get on her feet after her husband’s sudden passing. 

We were also able to put  necessary equipping into the hands of our Malawi trainers.  They received iPhones (to aid in communication and photography), GBTF shirts, business cards, projectors, and more!
