11/13/24 Buildings, Bibles, and Cars

BUILDINGS

One of the great additions to our Global Baptist Training Foundation expansion has been the ability, with donor funding, to build buildings that will belong to the local church plants but also serve as GBTF training centers.

In 2023, we built a building in Guinea, just north of Liberia.  We will have the privilege of dedicating this building in January of 2025.

In 2024, we saw the completion of a building in Uganda and were able, with Pastor and Mrs. Justin Johnson of Newark Baptist Church in Maryland, to attend the very special dedication of this new building.  We also are seeing the beginning of a building in South Sudan and the rebuilding of a building in Ethiopia, again thanks to generous donors.  

The church plants in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where the Two Cities team partnered two weeks ago are examples of building projects for the future.  Below are the buildings for the Faraja Baptist Church and the Emmanuel Baptist Church.  The report is that Faraja Baptist was packed last week with new believers.  They will need a building soon.

BIBLES

We have had a donor give enough funds to buy 600 Swahili Bibles.   These Bibles arrived in Uganda just today.  Pastor Naboth loaded his van and began delivering the Bible’s immediately.  Bibles are an ever present need as the ministry mushrooms.  For example, two weeks ago, the Two Cities team from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, saw 248 people profess faith in Jesus Christ.  Those people need Bibles.   The team did purchase some Bibles, but the need is SO great.  We also have a ladies group that is collecting funds for even more Bibles. 

CARS

As we near the end of the year, we would ask you to consider a one time gift to help Global Baptist Training Foundation meet some urgent needs.  We have several trainers who desperately need transportation.  Some need motorcycles, but others travel greater distances for GBTF, and a car is necessary.  This need covers many countries – Liberia, Uganda, Myanmar, and others.  The total need is about $50,000.  One donor has started this fund for us, but significant funding is needed to make these transportation needs a reality.   Would you make this a Christmas gift to a national trainer/church planter?

These are all significant signs of growth and expansion.  We are thankful for each of you who give regularly to take training to nationals who train other nationals who start churches who win their countries for Christ.
