10/16/2021 Another Milestone Approaching in Rwanda
Friday Afternoon the Rwandan pastors got one step closer to finishing their coursework with Global Baptist Training Foundation. They are predictably excited about receiving their official diplomas next February when we return for the last class. This is a task that we have been working on together for nearly ten years. About 25 pastors will need remediation to finish because of the difficulty traveling to this week’s classes, but our local trainer Fidele will help catch them up before our arrival in the new year.
Yesterday was a banner day for these national pastors in other ways as well. I got to sit down with the young, new legal representative and president of the Baptist Union. Thomas and I sat for about an hour and talked about the future of the Baptist Union and GBTF. The next decade will bring more growth, change, and development. We have already forged a tentative alliance in reaching mutual goals together that will advance the cause of Christ in Rwanda and beyond the borders into all of East Africa.
Please pray for our Rwandan brethren in Christ who are committed to excellence in their ministries but who need a hand up in managing the incredible financial challenges ahead. I told Thomas that God will do amazing things through His people as we trust Him together. He asked me if we intended to continue returning to Rwanda to train the younger men who have committed themselves to ministry, and I assured him we would be honored to continue the training for as long as they have men and women to train.
Thanks to all of our giving and prayer partners who have lifted Larry and me up this week as we have taught and discipled these wonderful servants. It is worth it all!
