GBTF Moves Into Sudan 05/22/23
Sudan is a nation that is closed to Western missionary efforts. So what is the answer to evangelizing a nation such as this? Train the nationals!!!! We have had, as many of you know, six Sudanese pastors coming into Uganda to our Global Baptist Training Foundation classes. They are planting new churches and opening churches that had been chained closed! You may remember this video testimony of one of our Sudanese students just two months ago:
Here is a picture of one of the buildings for a church planted by Pastor Samuel Longa, a GBTF trained and Advance-supported church planter. He has gotten this church established and is moving on to plant another. These church plants are in refugee camps where hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees now live after fleeing from the violence of war in the north of the country. The gospel is making inroads among many Muslim refugees.
In addition to these exciting church plants, one of our pastors from the Uganda training classes, Pastor Gilbert Ocheka, has traveled into South Sudan (a long and grueling trip) to hold training for even more pastors who have been unable to travel to Uganda. Gilbert is using his GBTF materials and equipping to multiply the training into Sudan. He has also identified the need for some Bibles that we plan to supply in July! Please pray for the safety of all involved and that the gospel would spread like wildfire among the Sudanese refugees. GBTF is humbled to equip and encourage such amazing servants of God. We need more financial resources to continue this type of multiplication!
We rejoice at what God is doing across the world as we train nationals to train nationals!
